About The Chamber
A Message From the President
On behalf of the Smiths Falls and District Chamber of Commerce, it is my honour to welcome you to Sensational Smiths Falls!
In the summer of 2007, the Rideau Canal gained well-deserved attention when it was designated a United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization World Heritage Site. As the most recent of fourteen UNESCO Sites in Canada, the Rideau Canal has, at its heart, the community of Smiths Falls. With this designation comes much responsibility.
As a community in the Canal's midst, we become responsible for presenting the history and vitality of our community in a unique and positive way. Guests will be visiting from all over the world. As our community moves into the future we need to ensure that each visitor, potential resident and business person sees Smiths Falls in an optimistic light. The positive ambience and the accessibility of Sensational Smiths Falls need to be at the forefront of our thoughts and actions.
The Chamber of Commerce will continue to act as an advocate for business activity in the Town of Smiths Falls. We will continue to promote and facilitate communication between business and all levels of government and will continue to work with the Town to ensure that the Branding of Smiths Falls reflects the people who live, work and own businesses in the community.
Inclusion as a World Heritage Destination gives our town an opportunity to promote a message that represents an image of what we have been, what we are and all that we can become. Smiths Falls is a classic example of one door opening as another door closes. As a representative of the business community, I look forward to the positive reinvention of Smiths Falls as the Heart of the Rideau Canal and to our success going into the future.
We hope that you will find everything you need on the Chamber's new website. If you need further assistance, our office staff welcome your calls and emails. Please feel free to contact us any time!
